When—beyond simply assessing a vessel's condition—it is necessary to technically analyze an incident, determine its causes, evaluate damages, or substantiate a position before third parties, the task may require a technical or expert report.
At ORIENTA SI, we conduct marine surveys and prepare technical reports regarding recreational vessels and yachts, serving private individuals, companies, insurance firms, professional practices, and other interested parties.
Our work begins with an inspection and an analysis of the facts and available documentation, supplemented—where necessary—by measurements, calculations, testing, or the application of relevant technical standards. Our goal is to achieve technically sound conclusions, clearly distinguishing observed facts from the expert's hypotheses, interpretations, and findings.
Our services include, among others, damage and casualty surveys, root cause analysis, repair cost assessments, party-commissioned reports, court-appointed expert assessments, and technical assistance in disputes involving yachts and recreational crafts.

JUDICIAL EXPERT REPORTS
We carry out judicial expert reports in the maritime and yachting field, both by judicial appointment and at the request of one of the parties.
The work may include vessel inspection, analysis of damage or breakdowns, review of documentation and background information, study of potential causes and consequences, and—where applicable—calculations, application of technical standards, and assessment of repairs.
The findings are set out in a technically substantiated expert report, and the expert, when required, appears in court to ratify and defend the report.
PRIVATE EXPERT ASSESSMENTS AND TECHNICAL REPORTS
We carry out party expert reports and technical reports when it is necessary to analyze and document a technical issue related to a vessel, whether or not there is an ongoing legal proceeding.
The work is tailored to the specific requirements of each case and may include inspections, document reviews, analysis of damage, breakdowns, or repairs, determination of potential causes, calculations, and the application of technical regulations.
The aim is to provide an independent, well-founded technical assessment that establishes the facts, evaluates their implications, and offers a technical basis for decision-making, claims, or potential disputes.
Damage Assessments
When a vessel has sustained damage, a breakdown, or an incident, we conduct the necessary inspections and technical analyses to determine the nature and extent of the issue and, whenever possible, establish its causes and consequences.
The assessment may include analyzing the circumstances of the incident, inspecting the affected components, reviewing documentation and background information, and defining and estimating the cost of necessary repairs.
These reports can be used for claims, insurance proceedings, disputes between parties, or to technically define and oversee a repair.
Valuation and Appraisal
We carry out vessel valuations and appraisals to determine and technically substantiate a vessel’s value as of a specific date.
Depending on the purpose of the report, the valuation takes into account the vessel’s characteristics and condition, age, equipment, maintenance history, and modifications, as well as available documentation and comparable market data.
These reports may be required for legal proceedings, insurance purposes, sales transactions, financing, inheritance, asset division, seizures, or other situations requiring a substantiated valuation of the vessel.
