Hull damages due to a poorly placed keel block

The captain of a 26-meter motor yacht contacted Orienta SI after detecting damage to the hull during the dry-docking process. One of the keel blocks had been placed directly on the keel, in an area without internal structural reinforcements and not intended as a support point.

As a result of the load transmitted by the block, localized hull deformation occurred, accompanied by several clearly visible cracks in the affected area.

Orienta SI carried out a technical analysis of the damage, determining its extent and evaluating its possible origin. Based on this evaluation, the necessary repair procedure was defined to restore the hull’s structural integrity and ensure the proper execution of the work.

The work included the analysis of the structural damage, the definition of the repair, and technical advice to the captain throughout the process.
